Trina – Il Giardino del Ricamo di Maria Porcu
My first approach to handiwork took place in my mother’s haberdashery, who brought me in the world of crafts and made me take a course in knitting. Therefore, when I was 17, I started creating my first pullovers for our customers.
In 2002, I took a course in Modano (square-meshed knotted laces) and in Filet di Bosa (embroidery typical of Bosa) techniques, which completely won my heart. In 2007, I created my first jewel in Sardinian Filet, thanks to my careful exploration of floral patterns, which appear in ancient works.
I participated in many exhibitions and events concerning embroidery and lace, both in Sardinia and in Italy, where I have always found people curious about Filet jewels and crafts. Finally, in 2015, I opened my studio. My interest in Filet also led me to be president and teacher for the association “Crearte Onlus”, whose aim is to preserve this Sardinian ancient tradition.
